Studying in India: a decision guide for UAE families

Ashoka, Plaksha, O.P. Jindal, FLAME and Krea are not interchangeable. The useful comparison is academic model, subject depth, admissions route, campus setting, full cost and graduate pathway. Use this guide to frame the decision, then verify live details on each university's official site.

A decision framework for UAE families

  1. Start with subject intent. Compare actual modules, prerequisites, major rules and academic assessment.
  2. Check the learning model. Consider writing, seminars, labs, projects, class format and how early a student must specialise.
  3. Verify recognition and progression. Check UGC status and ask relevant UAE authorities about the student's intended use of the degree.
  4. Compare the full cost. Use current official fee pages and include residence, meals, deposits, travel and scholarship renewal conditions.
  5. Assess campus and support. Ask about housing, health support, security, accessibility, student advising and travel from the UAE.
  6. Look at outcomes responsibly. Read programme-level reports and cohort context; do not choose on one salary or placement headline.

Admissions and scholarships

These universities use different combinations of academic records, tests, essays, interviews and institution-specific assessments. SAT or ACT may be one route at some institutions, but no universal score determines admission.

Scholarships and financial aid can be merit-based, need-based or both. Verify eligibility, coverage, renewal conditions and whether residence or other charges are included before comparing offers.

Questions families ask

Which of these universities is best?

There is no single best option across subjects and students. Compare the exact programme, academic model, campus environment, cost and graduate pathway against the student's priorities.

Do these universities accept SAT or ACT?

Several publish SAT or ACT routes, but policies differ by institution and cycle. Use each official admissions page for the current requirement and assessment process.

How should families compare fees?

Use the current official fee page and compare total attendance cost, including residence, meals, deposits, travel and scholarship conditions. Avoid relying on an old article figure.

How do we verify recognition from the UAE?

Check the institution through India's UGC and ask the relevant UAE authority how recognition, attestation or professional licensing applies to the intended degree and use.
