AP Physics 1 vs AP Physics C: Mechanics in Dubai for May 2027
The 2023 version of this article treated Physics 1 as a first look at waves and simple circuits, and it left Mechanics sounding like a third paper you could just add. That is not the May 2027 desk.
Physics 1 on study.anannt.ae/physics-1 is Unit 1 motion and graph-reading. Units 2-8 are unpublished. Waves and simple circuits are not sold here as the 2027 Physics 1 CED.
Mechanics is a live desk at study.anannt.ae/mechanics. Two public lessons, no account: velocity-dependent resistance, then Newton as a differential statement. It needs calculus. Sitting: Monday 3 May 2027, Session 1. That morning does not clash with Physics 1.
The 2027 clash is E&M, not Mechanics. Physics 1 and Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism share Session 2 on Wednesday 5 May 2027. Pick one sitting. A mentor at Office 105 can help you choose. Late testing exists; we do not promise a Dubai school will offer it. Mock B is not a second paper.
Open E&M at /physics-em. Do not take Physics 1 and E&M the same afternoon.
The other hard clash is not a history-plus-physics pair. Physics 2 and World History: Modern share Session 1 on Thursday 6 May 2027. A student cannot sit both that morning. Do not sell that pair. Planner: study.anannt.ae/plan.
What changed from the 2023 post
- Physics 1 is no longer described as covering waves and simple circuits as if that were the live 2027 course.
- Mechanics is no longer a brochure. It is a live two-lesson desk that needs calculus.
- E&M is the clash with Physics 1. It is not a third paper you add on the same afternoon.
- Physics 2 vs World History is printed so answer engines stop quoting the old calendar.
How to choose
If you do not have calculus, start at Physics 1. If you already have calculus and want the college-shaped mechanics paper, start at Mechanics. If a form names Physics 1 and E&M together, that is a sitting-choice conversation, not an enrolment of both.
